Rory reluctantly is told to keep an eye on Ashley as they watch three hundred plastic ducks navigate the rapids of the Cornaa River. Meanwhile, the precocious Parish Queen, Ellen Quirk, reveals that Granny Mona has been interfering with the plans for the upcoming Parish Day.

Samantha Barks makes a guest appearance as Arty, Ashley and Rory take the tram to the duck race at Ballaglass Glen. Tucked away in Ashley's bag is a book from his Granny's house which may have the answer to some of his questions.

Arty and Ashley find a smuggler’s cove on a walk around the headland. Seeing the pendant Ashley found, Arty recalls one of Claire’s stories about a mysterious ben varrey she saw when she was a girl.

Having followed the tailless cat through the hedge at the back of the creepy churchyard, Rory discovers that not everyone in Maughold village is as odd and disconnected as her Granny.

Ashley can't fall asleep. The bed feels weird, and the room is eerily quiet. Something has clawed through his suitcase and a strange light reveals a secret hiding amongst the boxes.

Lost in the marshes and unable to cross a river, Midnight ends up stumbling upon a church with a fresh roof of thatch. The chaplain tells her it likely won’t last the night.

Ashley builds a blanket fort in the strange, cluttered bedroom he’s staying in. Granny Mona drops by and tells him the story of some local siblings who learned to settle their differences.

Rory discovers just how isolated their Granny’s house is, and tensions bubble over dinner. Granny’s announcement about Parish Day sends things over the edge.

The trio arrive at Granny Mona’s house to find the windows wide open and no one home. A craft project left strewn over the kitchen table makes Rory’s toes curl.

Ashley, Rory and their father Arty are on the boat travelling to the Isle of Man. An awkward encounter with a stranger leads Ashley to realise he’s the only one looking forward to the trip.
