Meet the Team

A new Manx tale, told by some of the island’s greatest storytellers.

  • Kyle Withington

    SHOW CREATOR

    Kyle wrote the story for the podcast at the height of the coronavirus pandemic while unable to return to see family on the island. He also directed the performances and hosts the show.

  • David Kilgallon

    MUSIC

    David is a multi-instrumentalist and Manx language speaker. He studied composition at the University of York and uses his Manx roots as a source of great inspiration in his music.

  • Joseph Jennings

    VOICE of ASHLEY SPARROW

    Joseph is a lover of myths and legends, and joined the team to give a voice to one of the show’s protagonists, Ashley Sparrow. He currently studies drama at Stage One Drama School.

  • Alice Smith

    VOICE of RORY SPARROW

    Alice is a Stage One alumnus and had appeared in many island productions. She’s been thrilled to lend her voice to bringing Manx myths to life with an exciting, modern twist.

  • Tony Eccles

    VOICE of ARTY SPARROW

    Tony trained at the Hammond School and has many credits in TV, film and theatre. He’s also been involved in big island musicals, having recently played the titular role in Young Frankenstein.

  • Sonia Callin

    VOICE of GRANNY MONA

    Sonia is Isle of Man born and bred, and taught musical theatre to many in our cast. She is proud to have been a part of so many amazing Manx productions over the past few decades.

  • Chris Caine

    ENSEMBLE VOICES

    Chris is a performer, radio broadcaster and regular of the theatre scene on the Isle of Man. Myths, legends, and Manx heritage have been core themes in much of Chris’ work.

  • Bryony Grant

    ENSEMBLE VOICES

    Bryony is performer, singer, and Stage One alumnus. She has appeared in and provided musical direction for many Manx musicals. She also sang ’Ushag Veg Ruy’, our podcast’s theme.

  • David Artus

    ENSEMBLE VOICES

    David is a familiar face with Manx audiences, having appeared in leading roles at the Gaiety stage for many years. He has also written and directed seven Isle of Man pantos since 2003.

  • David Armstrong

    PRODUCTION

    David is a key figure in the production film and media on the Isle of Man. He is a long-time champion of creative projects, no matter the budget or scale, and has been a great friend to the podcast.

  • Kat Thornley

    SCRIPT EDITING

    Kat is a wordsmith extraordinaire. She has read and listened to every incarnation the tens of thousands of words of Mona’s Isle script has gone through, saving you from the worst of it!

  • Lewis Withington

    RECORDING

    Lewis ran the desk for us while we recorded the character dialogue for the podcast. He recently graduated from the Visual Communications course at UCM and is also a Stage One alumnus.
